Gone Girl Review:-

Plot:-
Nick Dunne ( Ben Affleck ) & Amy Elliot Dunne ( Rosemund Pike) are both writers who have been married for 5 years , but on their 5th Wedding Anniversary Amy disappears and Nick starts behaving strangely , thus the Police & Media suspect him of murdering his wife . What really happened forms the rest of the story.

Performances:-

Ben Affleck - He is the perfect choice for the role as has directed several thrillers in the last few years , his last directional thriller Argo won the Academy Award for Best Picture , He does justice to his character , giving the exact same expressions a husband would give If his wife is missing , One of the best performances of his career so far.

Rosemund Pike - Just like Ben she is also the perfectly cast in the film , Unlike Ben's character which just required awkward expressions , Pike's character is different , She requires to show different expressions that are contrast to each.

Neil Patrick Harris - Neil plays Desi Collings , who happens to be a ex-boy friend of Amy , His character is introduced in the 2nd half at the most crucial twist , His role may be short but cannot go unnoticed.

Tyler Perry  -  He plays Tanner Bolt, Nick's attorney who comes to his resque when almost the whole media started suspecting him of murder, another neat performance.

Carrie Cocoon  -  She plays Nick's sister, another strong supporting character who stays on Nick's side despite the whole country speaking against him.

Kim Dickins  -  She plays detective Rhonda Booning, a quite important character who moves the plot throughout the first half of the film.

Technicalities:-

Cinematography  -  Jeff Cronenwith's camera work creates the perfect atmosphere for the modern day thriller, the color grading comprises of a mix of pale white and sky blue, its excellent.

Editing  -  Kirk Baxter's editing is superb, every scene switches between the narrator's point of view and the actual scene. That's a unique one considering the relatively new genre.

Music Composing  -  Trent Razor & Attius Ross's background score keeps the audience at the edge of their seats, right from the beginning till the end.

Screenplay  -  Gillian Flin :-
We rarely get to see female screenwriters and women scripting a film without any partiality in gender, those women are the rarest among the rare.In the 1st half Amy's side of the story is narrated, in the 2nd half Nick's side of the story is narrated leading to the actual reason behind Amy's disappearance.

Direction  -  David Fincher :-
What can we expect from the director who gave cult films like fight club, Se7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network, your expectations would surely be satisfied as Fincher as succeeded in making another great modern thriller.I hope he finally wins the Academy Award this time.

Plus:-
Ben Affleck and Rosemund Pike's performance

Strong supporting characters

Screenplay

Editing

Background score

Direction

Minus:-
A few unanswered questions

The Final Word :-
The film deals with a very sensitive issue, marital problems caused by relatives, money, neighbors, media etc etc. in the worst possible way, just one advice you may lose faith in marriage if uou get the film wrong.

Rating  -  9.25/10
