Meaghamann Review:-

Meaghamann Review :-
Plot:-
Shiva (Arya) is a cop who has been working undercover for several years to penerate through a drug traffic gang and catch its leader Jyothi (Ashutosh Rana), after
several years of hard work when it seemed he is closing in on meeting Jyothi, there is a twist in the tale.
Performances:-
Arya as Siva - His character is designed in such a way, that he has to remain without any variation in expression, that didn't make Arya's performance a bad one , in fact the scenes where he stares at his enemies with rage is sure to give u goosebumps, Arya has improved a lot in voice modulation since his Vaataaram which had a similar theme.
Ashutosh Rana as Jyothi - His character is described as a powerful mafia don who has been making several hundred crores every year but has not even been seen by his own gang members(only few of them had the privilege to meet him in person that too not often) , Actor Ashutosh Rana who went unnoticed as a villain in Vettai has come up with a brilliant performance this time.
Sudhanshu Pandey as Guru - After playing the main villain in Ajith Kumar's Billa II, Sudhanshu's performance is good, here he may be a side kick but he is sidelined, his role is still a powerful one,his character is working as a key Hench Men for Jyothi,He is often shown rubbing shoulders with other powerful characters.
Ashish Vidyarthi - The versatile actor plays a suspended cop who sets up a drug traffic gang on par with Jyothi's gang during his suspension period, he was good in his role .
Ramana as Chandra - He plays Arya's partner in the film, both work in different gangs, he is very good , and probably this is his best performance till date.
Anupama Kumar as Bharathi - She plays the assistant commissioner of Goa police, her role is again very great, a suitable comparison would be M from Daniel's Craig's James Bond films.
Others actors have also done justice to their characters are adequate.
Hansika Motwani - Oh my God, who would have taught that this bubbly girl would have become a major flaw which almost ruins the film, except for one twist in the film, her character is just a waste of screen time, her voice acting also is very irritating.
Technicalities:-
Cinematography by SR Sathish Kumar - His camera work is great in the film, the lightings gives the film a noir look like the films of Alfred Hitchcock, He has chosen to use back lights and over exposed light to his favor to show characters in a powerful way.
Editing by NB Srikanth - His editing was great, the insert shorts of Sathish are perfectly merged with the screenplay to give a smooth flow to the film, but still few scenes are overlong in the 2nd half and they could have been trimmed.
Fight Choreography by Anal Arasu - Just like Thadayara Thaaka , this film also has unique fight scenes, the gun fight sequence in the interval bang was terrific.
Background Score by Thaman - There are just 2 songs in the film, both are forgettable numbers but the background score is terrific.
Scripting and Direction by Magizh Thirumeni :-
Fresh of from the success of Thadayara Thaaka, Magizh comes up with an undercover cop story, even though the 2nd half is a mere dis-appointment, the strong characterizations of actors compensate it to some extent, even the supporting characters are not wasted, he has given all them meaty roles, but one would wonder why is Hansika's character forcefully fit into the film just for the sake of one twist, that one mistake is a major flaw, and as the director revealed too much secrets in 1st half itself, 2nd half becomes very predictable(Just like Surya's Mattraan).
Plus:-
Acting
Strong Characters
Background score
Stunt Choreography
Cinematography
Editing & screenplay in 1st half
Direction
Minus:-
Less Impact ful dialogues
Hansika's character and voice acting
2nd half
The Final Word: Even though it suffers from the same problem as Surya's Mattraan , the length(2 hrs 20 mins) saves the film from getting overtly boring, we can definitely give it a try.

Rating 6.5/10
