Nightcrawler (2014 film) Review:-

Plot:-
Louis "Lou" Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) makes money stealing from Los Angeles construction sites. Inspired by an amateur film crew he sees shooting footage of a car crash, he acquires a camcorder and
a radio scanner and shoots violent accidents and crimes to sell to a local TV station,But his job earns him the wrath of the Underworld & The Police.

Performances:-

Jake Gyllenhaal as Louis Bloom - He gets into the skin of his character,he is stylish, psychotic, brilliant, and justifies his character which is all about the business at the end.

Rene Russo as Nina - Her screen time is limited to certain important scenes but still important as it helps the lead character in every forward to reach the next level of success, and she does a neat job.

Riz Ahmed as Rick - A regular sidekick who was supposed to be there to help his boss but only ends up as burden, his performance is okay for a newcomer.

Technicalities:-

Cinematography by Robert Elswit - The Cinematography is swift,  highlighting the stylish look of the night life in Los Angeles, the color grading is classy with bright flashes resembling colors in a traffic signal.

Edited by John Gilroy - Its quite cheesy, some scenes were edited well, its crisp not sharp.

Music Direction by James Newton Howard - Its pretty good, especially in action scenes its as exciting as Fast & Furious series.

Writing & Direction - Dan Gilroy:-
Well written, With just one important character and others being just pawns, its a very good directional debut.

Plus:-
Jake Gyllenhaal's performance
Direction
Color grading

Minus:-
Very Predictable
Below par editing

The Final Word:The concept is a familiar one but also untouched and fresh, Dan Gilroy has crafted a stylish crime that has potential to spawn a low budget film franchise.

Rating - 7.75/10
