Lingaa Review :-
Plot:-
Raja Lingeswaran (Rajini) gives away all his properties for the sake of building a dam for the village called Singanooru under British rule. He also builds a temple by the side of that dam, but the villagers misunderstand Lingeswara's intentions and send him away from Singanooru. His grandson Lingaa (Rajini again) comes to that village after seventy years and opens that temple. Now Lingaa has to save that village and dam from a corrupt politician (Jagapathi Babu).
Performances:
Rajinikanth: His name itself is the biggest asset of this film . His style and sentiments are enough to make the audience roar. But his character sketch & under utilization of his talent tend to effect the film terribly.
Sonakshi Sinha: She gets sidelined in the role, We all know why she was loved by the fans in an Industry which only takes notice to slim girls, Salman Khan her co-star in her debut film admitted several times that she has a special charm, Lingaa fails to make use of them.
Anushka: She is good,Her role is little longer & stronger but still, she gets affected by the same problem as Sonakshi,Poor voice dubbing & lip sync.
Santhanam: Santhanam's comedy works in parts, the other parts are not irritating though.
KarunaKaran: He is regarded for maintaining consistency in his recent films as a humorous comedian, but his role in Lingaa however is forgettable.
Jagapathi Babu: His role is dis-appointing since the last film he starred in as a Villain (Legend 2014 Telugu film) was a super hit,and some said that the film ran solely because of Jaggu's terrific performance, but in Lingaa he is treated as a weak villain with stereotype character sketch, its hard to say this but the worst thing a director could do to the villain was projecting him in a weak manner just for the sake of the lead actor to look like a superstar, it is just disgusting.
Technicalities:
Cinematography by Rathnavelu a.k.a. Randy - While many technical aspects of the film are weak,Randy's camera work is not among them, despite the flashblack's routine treatment,Randy makes them look colorful and fresh to make it suitable for the updated audiences, the glittering color tone in scenes involving the palace and steam engine reminds us of classic Sherlock Holmes films.Truly one of the highlights of the film.
Editing by Samjith MHD - The film could have been trimmed by at least 30+minutes,not just trimming, there are a handful of scenes that could have been chopped off easily as they were in no way significant in the film.
Production Design by Sabu Syril - The Palace sets and others pre-independence era locations were a absolute treat to watch.
Computer Generated Imagery - The water flowing from the Dam and other scenes involving Graphics were rendered adequately.
Music by AR Rahman - He is fresh off from the success of I's classy Audio , But for Lingaa he gave one of the most forgettable albums since Varalaru. The BGM too lacks consistency,Probably this would remain as a black mark in Rahman's Discography.
Screenplay & Direction - KS Ravikumar:-
After churning out Blockbusters for Rajinikanth like Muthu & Padayappa ,Lingaa is just a mere rehash of his previous films and also has shades of Actor Vijay's recent hit film Kaththi, but this film lacks the pace & Logic the latter film had. Ravikumar relies too much on Rajini's stardom, but how can a film with a routine story line, lack of pace, and messed up screenplay be saved by Rajini, Frankly speaking he too has Kuselan, Kochadaiiyaan, Baba and several other films that failed miserably at the Box office. Making films with the lead actor alone looking like God and making other look like stereotypes is an old ridiculous formula. In other words Lingaa represents almost everything one hates about these stereotype potboilers.
Plus:-
Rajini's Stardom
Santhanam's comedy that works in parts
Screenplay
Cinematography
Production Design
Minus:-
Editing
Songs
BGM
Screenplay
Direction
Underdeveloped characters
Narration
Voice Dubbing of the actresses
The Final Word : Watch it for Rajinikanth, If that brand is not enough to get your attention, its simple just stay away from Lingaa.

Penguins of Madagascar Review:-
Plot:-
The Penguins:Skipper (Tom McGrath), Kowalski(Chris Miller), Rico (Conrad Vernon), and Private (Christopher Knights) are beginning to have trust issues, but they have to get along as team after they kidnapped by the North wind leader Wolf (Benedict Cumberbatch).
Technicalities:-
Model and Rendering - All the characters look kinda pretty and smooth especially the facial expressions of the penguins and wolf are rendered so good as If like its a treat to watch.
Voice Acting - All the characters are backed up by humorous voices especially Christopher Knight and Benedict Cumberbatch are at their very best.
Production Design - Its nice, the background looks cool, the gadgets are cool and instantly strike a chord with Children.
Special Effects - While they are overused at certain points, they also keep the pace smooth with photo realistic effects.
Music Composing & Mixing - The soundtrack is nice and pleasant to hear but sound editing & mixing could have been better as they are too loud sometimes.
Editing - With a running time of less than 100 minutes,it would be smooth watch for the viewers.
Screenplay:-
The screenplay is one of the highlights of the film with unexpected twist and turns all over the film.
Direction:-
Simon J Smith & Eric Darnell have done nice work with this TV series Adaptation.
Plus:-
Screenplay
Special Effects
Benedict Cumberbatch's voice acting
Direction
Minus:-
Logic flaws
Over top scenes
Sound Mixing could have been better
The Final Word: Penguins of Madagascar is entertaining, not as good as its TV series but still nice, watch it with your brains at home.
Rating - 7.5/10.

Kaaviya Thalaivan Review :-
Plot:-
The film revolves around the reputed drama troupe,Thavathiru Sivadas Swamigal (Nassar) is the leader,Kaliappa Bhagavathar (Siddharth) and Gomathi Nayagam Pillai (Prithivaraj) are his apprentices,When everything seemed to go fine with the film,Gomathi becomes jealous of Kali.
Performances:-
Siddharth as Kaliappa Bhagavathar - Siddharth's character got overshadowed by the villain in his previous film Jigarthanda, but here he gets his chance to even himself with his fellow actors, his new style of dialogue delivery especially in the scene where he plays Rajapart is sure to make a deep impact among the audience.
Prithiviraj as Gomathi Nayagam Pillai - His character is quite similar to Pasupathi's character in Veiyl (Also a Vasantha Balan film),Despite putting in his best efforts his character is goes unnoticed among the drama troupes as they give more preference to Kali, this leads to jealousy,Prithivaraj should be commended for taking up this role,he gave his best performance in his Tamil film career with Gomathi.
Vedhika as Vadivambal - Arguably one most of under used actresses in film industry today, last year in Bala's Paradhesi she showed that lesser familiarity with the language, won't effect their performances If they put serious effort to get the right output, and yes she did it again, she deserves accolades for her performance.
Nassar as Thavathiru Sivadas Swamigal - Nassar is a versatile actor and he just proved it again in his role as a mentor for his actors in his drama company.
Others - They are adequate
Technicalities :-
Cinematography by Nirav Shah - Considering the fact that this film is based on stage dramas,it needs special attention from the film's cinematographer, and Nirav Shah did his fine best to get the lightings right according to the drama sequences.
Editing by Praveen KL - He has been doing very smooth editing for his films of late and his tried his best to keep the film engaging, the 1st half was entertaining while the 2nd half is a bit cheesy with overlong melodramatic scenes,Praveen could have trimmed those scenes a little.
Production Design by Santhanam - Given that the film is set in the pre-independence era,it needs a lot of sets to bring back the current feel, added the medium budget of 20 crores, the job would be even more harder, but Santhanam proves to be exceptional with his convincing work with a relatively lesser cost background arts.
Music by AR Rahman - The musicals involved in stage dramas are long forgotten and it would be hard to get people's attention, roping in a popular Composer like AR Rahman worked in the favor of the film,he not only gave the perfect background score and songs but also his popularity is niche audience to the theater.
Writting & Direction - Vasandha Balan :-
First of all Hats-off sir for attempting to make a film on this rare genre,it takes more than just guts to come this far. Vasantha Balan is a great director and Kaaviya Thalaivan is a fine example of his skills, his writing worked out very well to a large extent but still it does have some flaws, the first half was fabulous and entertaining, but it seems the film lost its path suddenly turning into patriotic film midway overlong emotional scenes dis-appoint at the end.
Plus:-
Performances of the actors
Production Design
Cinematography
Music
Direction
Minus:-
2nd half Very Predictable
Screenplay could have been handled in a better way.
The Final Word - Despite its flaws,Kaaviya Thalaivan is still a must watch for the efforts put in by the entire team...
Rating - 7.5/10.....

Naaigal Jaakirathai Review :-
Karthik (Sibi Raj) is a Police Officer and Subramani (Idho ) is a Military Trained Belgian Shepherd,They work together in their jobs,One day Karthik's wife is kidnapped by an unknown Gang,What Karthik and Subramanai do to save her forms the rest of the story.
Performances:-
Sibiraj as Karthik - He is said to have done a lot of research for almost 4 years to get into the skin of his character, and the hard work has helped indeed,He is energetic and confident, probably he would get his much needed break through this film.
Idho as Subramani the Dog - This is something unusual, not often do we get to see animals play such meaty roles in films,This is quite surprising and I think If Filmfare revises rules to allow animals for award nominations , then surely Idho deserves a filmfare nomination for its performance.
Arundhathi as Karthik's wife - Her screenspace is very limited and she is okay in her role and thats it for her performance.
Balaji as the Villain - Despite his underdeveloped Character in the film,Balaji packs a punch in this powerful role and I think we might get to see more of this actor in future.
Technicalities:-
Cinematography by Nizam Sharfi - Again another highlight of the film very good camera work, he makes the best use of the weather conditions and tricky shots.
Editing by Praveen KL - A repeat of Sigaram Thodu,Sharply edited every frame and the converted the screenplay smoothly with laser sharp cuts and transitions.
Music by Dharan - This is probably his best album since Poda Podi, for me it was better than that, the theme music along with the En Nenjil song are top notch and they bring a lot of energy to the film.
Writing & Direction Shakthi Sounder Rajan :-
Unlike a few others I actually liked Nanayam, many of my friends including a few people in Facebook said that Nanayam is just mashup of several Hollywood style robbery films,I think they should think about it once more because the real fact they only took inspiration and inspiration is not bad thing If someone could make quality films like these,Sakthi's work in this film is one to be remembered for several years, not just for the crisp screenplay and the complex narrative structure but also for the his direction,in a time where several directors find it hard to get the correct performance from experienced actors,Here is a director who managed to get a brilliant performance from a dog. The only I was dis-appointed was with the Climax,it ends like any other Investigation thriller would but in this one there is not enough justification for the motive of the villain,he kidnaps Karthik's wife but why? .. That is the only problem with this well crafted modern day thriller.
Plus:-
Sibiraj
Idho
Balaji
Cinematography
Editing
Theme Music & En Nenjil song
Direction
Minus :-
Climax
Less developed scenes
Lack of depth in romance which was needed.
The Final Word: NK is a well crafted Thriller with brilliant performances from actors and the dog, Perfect film to watch for this Weekend.
Rating: 7.5/10

Big Hero 6 (2014 film) Review:-
Plot:-
Set in a fictional futuristic hybrid metropolis called San Fransokyo (a portmanteau of San Francisco and Tokyo), a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada and his robot Baymax uncover a criminal plot and pull together a team of inexperienced crime-fighters,[8] including Wasabi, Honey Lemon, GoGo Tomago, and Fred[9] to solve the mystery surrounding the crimes caused by the masked super villain, Yokai.
Technicalities:
Rendering - Big Hero 6 had great Rendering and can possibly give the recently release Dreams Works Animated Feature How To Train Your Dragon 2 a run for its money, but the still the main character Baymax could have been rendered in a better way, He is supposed to look like a Robot not a like a Toy fighter.
Voice Acting - One of the best ever for an adventure oriented animation especially Ryan Potter who voices the lead character Hiro Hamada and Maya Rudolf's voice as Aunt Class keeps the Audience engaged.
Production Design - While the Idea of the Morphing of San Francisco & Tokyo sounds silly, The Production Design is quite rich, the production designer Paul Felix & his crew has fused popular landmarks to make fictional locations look awesome and its definitely a treat to watch them.
Special Effects - We're rarely get see Superhero Animation films, while we've already seen Incredible s& Mega Mind, this one is quite different as the VFX works make it look like realistic superhero film.
Music Composing & Mixing - Henry Jackson's Soundtrack is great and easily connects with the Audience especially with Children during emotional scenes. The Sound Editing & Mixing also deserve a special mention and even has chances to bag an Academy Award this season for it.
Writing & Direction - Don Hall & Chris Williams
The Story line may be weak but the Screenplay compensates with a mix of memorable moments with emotions & scares. The Direction of Hall & Williams is pretty decent.
Plus:-
Voice Acting
Production Design
Sound Mixing
Background Score
Special Effects
Climax
Editing
Character sketches
Minus:-
Weak Story line
Logic flaws
Unintentionally scary.
The Final Word - Big Hero has chances of interesting franchise, Its funny, cool , may not be great but is good.
Rating - 8/10.

Gone Girl Review:-
Plot:-
Nick Dunne ( Ben Affleck ) & Amy Elliot Dunne ( Rosemund Pike) are both writers who have been married for 5 years , but on their 5th Wedding Anniversary Amy disappears and Nick starts behaving strangely , thus the Police & Media suspect him of murdering his wife . What really happened forms the rest of the story.

Kaththi Review:- (Tamil Language film)
Kaththi Review :-
Plot:-
Kaththi a.k.a. Kathiresan escapes from Kolkata Central Jail and plans to escape to Bangkok but changes his mind when bumps into his Look-a-like Jeevanantham A Social Activist.
Plot:-
Kaththi a.k.a. Kathiresan escapes from Kolkata Central Jail and plans to escape to Bangkok but changes his mind when bumps into his Look-a-like Jeevanantham A Social Activist.
Performances:-
The biggest surprise I got while watching Kaththi was Vijay's performance because the last time I saw Vijay with this much strong screen presence was way back on Thirupachi . He seems to have changed a lot after several critics wrote him off as a stereotypical actor with mediocre screen presence . Vijay has dual roles in this film Kaththi & Jeevanantham . While Kathiresan's character is like a smart criminal master mind with a playboy attitude , Jeevanantham is a much older than him , he is a middle aged man with a lot of knowledge about Hydrology and he intends to use it for the sake of Farmers & Developing Agriculture. Vijay might have not done much of a getup change , as the only Physical Difference between Kaththi & Jeeva is Jeeva has some grey shaded facial hair which implies that he is a middle aged man as I mentioned earlier , But instead of a getup change , Vijay has showed major differences between the emoting of Kaththi & Jeeva which should appreciated as this is the first time in several years Vijay has done something like this , and he has also shown differences in body languages , I believe If Siddarth's Enakul Oruvan gets delayed to next year than Vijay has a lot of chances to win his first film fare award. Samantha's role is that of a regular commercial heroine , just romance with the hero and increasing the oomph factor for the film and she is okay in that role. Sathish has done a neat performance as kaththi's friend and there is not much to rave about his performance . Neil Nitin Mukesh has a given a good performance as the Villain and again there is not much to much to say about him as his screen space is limited with just a few Important scenes.

Technicalities : -
George C Williams has done a superb camera work with his different choice of shots . Editing is mediocre but the Editor Sreekar Prasad can't be blamed as the director himself has overloaded the film with a lot of boring scenes , some of them are unnecessary . Anirudh's songs have become chart busters and his BGM in the 2nd half of the film is the one of the highlights of the film. Fight Choreography is interesting and well choreographed.

Writing & Direction - AR Murugadoss:-
I have mixed feelings about Murugadoss's contribution in Kaththi , as few of them were path braking but many of them were dis-appointing . He has wrote several bold dialogues and majority worked towards the favor of the film ( The Talented director took a dig directly at several political and Corporate issue ) . While the romantic track was probably one of the most boring ones in recent films and as Murugadoss extends its unnecessarily , it does test our patience beyond the limit at several occasions. In the comedy track also he has tried add humor but only few of those scenes brought some smile among the viewers . His screenplay works in parts but he has also wrote some brilliant scenes like the one in which Kathiresan tackles his enemies with just coins technically were one of the highlights of the film , and those scenes showing medis'a selfish side are also great . He has left the characters of the Villain & Jeevantham underdeveloped , he should have avoided unnecessary scenes and used the screen time to give more importance on the Villain and Jeeva . Also the scenes that show the harsh plight of farmers these days are sometimes a little too melodramatic but he has successfully conveyed the message he tried to tell about the sad fate of agriculture .

Minus:- Boring romantic scenes & 1st half
Underdeveloped character of Jeevanatham and the Villain

Minor Logic flaws

The Final Word : Kaththi might not be as powerful as Thuppakki but is sharp enough in the edges to keep you as entertained as possible , Go with less expectations , It will definitely be worthy and you will love the message it tried to convey .
